Meeting Mr. Kumar

Khushi went online to find a therapist in Agra who could help her understand the meaning of her dreams. She found Mr. Raghav Kumar, who practiced psychodynamic therapy at a recently established therapy center. Despite being new, he had excellent reviews. She called his office, scheduled an appointment for the coming Friday after her work at her clinic.

When Khushi reached Mr. Kumar’s quiet and peaceful office, she felt nervous. The room was soothing, the dim lighting and cool colors made her feel a little calm even though her mind was racing.

Mr. Raghav seemed really kind and professional. His eyes were warm and welcoming, but he also seemed to understand things deeply. Khushi felt a mixed feeling that she was afraid to open up and also a little hope that maybe sharing her worries and strange dreams might help.

Mr. Raghav began by asking easy questions to get a better understanding of her situation, like-

Can you tell me a bit about yourself and what brings you to therapy?

How would you describe your current emotional state and any concerns you might have?

Can you share any significant life events or experiences that you think may be affecting you now?

What are your goals or expectations for therapy? What positive changes would you like to see?

How do you usually cope with stress or difficult emotions?

Can you describe your relationships with family and friends? How do they impact your well-being?

Are there recurring patterns or themes in your life that you’ve noticed and would like to explore?

How do you view yourself and your place in the world?

Are there any specific dreams, fears, or recurring thoughts that you would like to discuss?

What has been your experience with therapy in the past, if any?

At first, it was difficult for Khushi to talk about the strange feelings that kept her up at night. She was not used to explaining these confusing feelings. But Mr. Raghav was patient and gentle, which made her feel safe. Gradually, she started talking about things that bothered her.

As the conversation progressed, Khushi began to explore the part of her mind from where these strange feelings came. Mr. Raghav asked really smart questions that made her think about things she had never thought about before. His questions made her realize things about herself that she didn’t even know.

Their talk wasn’t just like a normal doctor’s appointment; it felt more like building trust and being open with someone who wanted to help. Mr. Raghav understood what Khushi wanted – to understand things and feel better. Khushi decided to start her therapeutic journey with Mr. Raghav, as in their first meeting that day she felt that she might be able to sort her dreams and memories with his help. It felt like they were on a journey together to find answers and make things better.
