The Adventure Club

Once upon a time, in Janakpuri, Delhi, five friends lived in the same apartment building. Their names were Saanvi, Atharv, Vivaan, and twins Kiara and Kian. They were just like most kids their age — always on their phones, tablets, or playing video games. Weekends meant sitting indoors, watching YouTube videos, and playing online games. Their parents were worried. The kids weren’t spending enough time outside, and they were starting to miss out on fun, real-life adventures.

At a get-together at the twins’ house, their parents, who were friends with the other kids’ parents, were chatting in the living room. Meanwhile, the boys were playing on the PlayStation in Kian’s room, and the girls were using Kiara’s tablet to scroll through social media in her room.

“I worry about the kids,” said Saanvi’s mother. “They never play outside anymore.”

“I agree,” said Atharv’s father. “They need fresh air, some sunshine and a little adventure. Maybe they just need a push.”

Then Vivaan’s parents had a brilliant idea. All the parents agreed to their suggestion, hoping it would work.

One weekend, Vivaan’s parents invited all five kids on a surprise camping trip. The kids were excited at first, imagining new games to play on their phones during the ride. But when they reached the camping spot, their eyes widened in disbelief.

“Wait a minute!” Kiara said. “There’s no Wi-Fi here!” Kian sighed. “There’s no electricity either.”

“Don’t worry!” Vivaan’s mom said, smiling. “This weekend, we’re going to experience real adventure. No gadgets, just the great outdoors.”

At first, the kids didn’t know what to do. Saanvi was thinking about the video game tournament she was going to miss. Atharv kept pulling out his phone despite not having a signal.

But soon, something surprising happened. Vivaan’s father taught them how to set up tents and they built a small campsite together. It wasn’t easy, but they began to enjoy it. Atharv even laughed when the first time he tried to put up his tent and it fell down. “It is really fun,” he said, shaking his head with a smile.

The next day, they went hiking in the forest, where they saw birds, butterflies, and all kinds of interesting plants. Kiara, who loved photography, brought her camera along. She started taking pictures of everything, colourful birds, flowers, and even tall trees. She realized there was so much beauty outside that she was missing out on.

Kian, who loved history, started imagining what it must have been like to camp in the woods hundreds of years ago. He even told the others a story about ancient kings who might have passed through these forests.

By the end of the trip, the kids didn’t want to leave. They laughed, played and even learned how to start a campfire! It felt like they were on a real adventure.
