Playtime With Kabir
The kind-hearted therapist, Kabir, was ready to help Hardik and Punita feel better. The room was filled with colorful toys, exciting games and a lot of books. It looked like a fun place, and Kabir was there to play and talk with the kids.
As soon as Hardik and Punita stepped into Kabir’s room, they felt a little nervous as today, there parents were not with them. But Kabir had a friendly smile which made them feel safe. He asked them to explore the room and play with any toys they liked.
Hardik picked up toy cars and moved them around the room, while Punita found a dollhouse with small furniture. They played together, building towers from colorful blocks and drawing happy pictures.
Kabir sat with them, looked at them and talked to them in a way that felt easy and comfortable. He didn’t ask a lot of questions or made them talk about sad things. Instead, he joined in with their play, and let them show how they felt through toys and games.
He saw how Hardik crashed his toy cars into each other, making loud noises. Kabir understood that Hardik was probably feeling angry or upset, so he asked softly, “Do your cars need help? Are they feeling crazy?” Hardik nodded silently, and Kabir gave him more cars to play with, giving him a chance to express his feelings without words.
Punita was busy arranging furniture in the dollhouse. Kabir noticed that she was sitting a family of dolls together, and asked, “Are they having a good time together? Do they feel safe?” Punita said smilingly, “Yes, they are happy.” Kabir understood that Punita was showing how she wanted her family to feel safe and happy.
Gradually, Kabir started to understand how Hardik and Punita felt, even without them saying much. He watched them play, how they moved and heard what they said. He saw the emotions behind their actions and helped them express those emotions in a safe and playful way.
Playing with Kabir felt like a new adventure for Hardik and Punita. They could express their feelings without worrying about saying the right words. Kabir made them feel like it was okay to feel sad or scared, and that they could express their feelings however they wanted.
At the end of their first play session, Hardik and Punita felt a little better. They liked Kabir’s room, where they could play and talk freely without any pressure. Kabir gave them hope that things could get better, and they were excited to come back and play again.
